Before leaving the site, complete the following checks to confirm the SGD is installed correctly, all required equipment is visible in Stormcloud, and the system is operating as expected.
1. Check All Antennas
Make sure all antennas are correctly and securely installed on the SGD.
For all new SGDs with two antenna ports, the connection should be configured as shown in the picture below.
SGD Physical Connections Cheat Sheet
https://support.switchdin.com/hc/en-us/articles/28217225470361-SGD-Physical-Connections-Cheat-Sheet
2. Check the LED Lights
Make sure the SGD LED lights are green and operating as expected.
The Power LED, LED1, and LED2 must all be solid green, as shown in the image below.
For information about the LED indicators and what they mean, refer to:
Droplet PLUS LED Headers
https://support.switchdin.com/hc/en-us/articles/33583424849945-Droplet-PLUS-LED-Headers
3. Confirm the SGD Internet Connection
For all new installations, the SGD must receive its primary internet connection through the ETH2 (Internet) port.
The ETH2 port, marked in red below, is where you need to connect your internet source/router.
You can confirm which connection the SGD is currently using in the Stormcloud app.
Navigate to:
Stormcloud →Equipment → Endpoint Attributes → Gateway Interface
Check the value displayed under Gateway Interface:
ETH0 — Correct Connection ✅
If the Gateway Interface shows:
eth0
This confirms that the SGD is connected to the router/internet through the physical ETH2 (Internet) port.
This is the correct connection and is what we want to see before leaving the site.
ethswdin11 — USB-to-Ethernet Adapter ⚠️
If the Gateway Interface shows:
ethswdin11
This means the SGD is getting its internet connection through a USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
Horizon Power is no longer using this connection method for new installations, so it should be avoided, even for old side you can call switchdin to help you get rid of the USB-ETH adapter.
SwitchDin Support: (02) 4786 0426
Check the installation and ensure the SGD is connected correctly through the ETH2 (Internet) port.
wwan0- — SIM Card / Backup Connection ⚠️
If the Gateway Interface shows:
wwan0
This means the SGD is using the SIM card/mobile network connection.
If wwan0 is showing, it may indicate that the router/ETH2 internet connection is not working correctly.
Do not leave the site without contacting SwitchDin for assistance.

4. Confirm the Inverter Is Added and Generating
In the Stormcloud app, make sure the inverter has been added successfully to the site.
Confirm that:
- The inverter is visible in Stormcloud.Go to Equipment- devices
- The inverter is communicating correctly.
-
The inverter is showing generation in Stormcloud. You can check this by going to stormcloud -Overview
If the inverter has been added but is not showing generation when generation is expected, investigate the connection or contact SwitchDin before leaving the site.
If the site is generating low amount like 0.1KW normally it is curtailed by HP for confirmation, monitor the site and it should go for normal generation within 24 Hours. If not email dertechnologies@horizonpower.com.au
5. Confirm the Controller Is Added
Make sure the controller has been added successfully to the site and is visible in the Stormcloud app.
Confirm that the controller is present and communicating correctly before leaving the site.
To confirm controller is added:
go to Stormcloud app- Equipment-controllers-controllers- Horizon power CSIPAUS controller
This step is very important. The installation will not be complete until this step is completed.
6. Add and Configure the Meter (If Applicable)
If there is a meter installed on site, add the meter to the Stormcloud app.
A meter is normally required for sites with batteries.
After adding the meter to Stormcloud, make sure the following settings are configured:
-
Meter Role:
Grid -
Meter Reverse Direction:
False.Regarding this setting, it may need to be set to True if the meter installed on-site is facing the wrong direction. The best way to confirm everything is working correctly is to go to the Stormcloud app → Overview and check whether the generation data makes sense. If the generation, export, and load numbers appear mixed up or unusual, it normally indicates that there may be an issue with the meter direction.
Before leaving the site, confirm that the meter is visible in Stormcloud, communicating correctly, and has the role as Grid meter role and reverse-direction setting is false(confirm with looking at generation/export/load)
Before You Leave – Final Checklist
- All antennas are correctly and securely installed.
- LED lights are green and operating as expected.
- The SGD is connected to the router through ETH2 (Internet port).
- Gateway Interface shows ETH0 in Stormcloud.
- If ethswdin11 is showing, investigate and correct the connection, call switchDin for help (02) 4786 0426
- If wwan is showing, contact SwitchDin on (02) 4786 0426 before leaving the site.
- The inverter is added and visible in Stormcloud.
- The inverter is showing generation in Stormcloud.
- The controller is added and visible in Stormcloud.
- The meter role is set to Grid.
- Check the meter polarity and confirm that the generation, export, and load data are all correct and make sense.
- All required equipment is communicating correctly.
The expected Gateway Interface for a correctly connected new Horizon Power installation is ETH0.
