Understanding the behaviour of each LED on the Droplet PLUS will help you validate the status of the connection to the Internet and the primary network connectivity method currently being used to connect to the MQTT broker.
LED 1 (middle LED) indicates Internet connectivity or Hotspot mode:
Sequence |
Colour |
Meaning |
Solid ON |
Green |
Can reach our MQTT broker, either secure or insecure |
Solid ON |
Red 2 |
No internet access |
Slow Blink |
Yellow/Orange 2 |
Access Point mode |
Note 1: LED sequence times may be slowed down by droplet workload.
Note 2: Red and Yellow/Orange colours look quite similar.
LED 2 LED 2 (rightmost LED, between SIM & antennas) indicates primary network connectivity method currently being used to connect to the MQTT broker:
Sequence |
Colour |
Meaning |
Solid ON |
Green |
Connected to MQTT broker via Ethernet |
Slow Blink (ON 2.5s, OFF 0.5s) 1 |
Green |
Connected to MQTT broker via WiFi, strong signal (> -80dB) |
Slow Blink (ON 2.5s, OFF 0.5s) 1 |
Yellow/Orange 2 |
Connected to MQTT broker via WiFi, weak signal (< -80dB) |
Slow Blink (ON 2.5s, OFF 0.5s) 1 |
Red 2 |
Connected to MQTT broker via WiFi, couldn’t read signal |
Constant Blink |
Green |
Connected to MQTT broker via cellular, strong signal quality (> 14 CSQ) |
Constant Blink |
Yellow/Orange 2 |
Connected to MQTT broker via cellular, weak signal quality (> -9 CSQ) |
Constant Blink |
Red 2 |
Connected to MQTT broker via cellular, marginal or couldn’t read LTE signal quality |
OFF |
- |
No connection to MQTT broker, e.g. network down or droplet switching connections |
Note 1: LED sequence times may be slowed down by droplet workload.
Note 2: Red and Yellow/Orange colours look quite similar.
