If a controller in Stormcloud shows an orange banner reading "Controller version not matched with Droplet inventory", or "Controller config not synched", the Droplet is not running the latest version of that controller's configuration.
What it means
Each time a controller is changed, Stormcloud sends the updated configuration down to the Droplet, and the Droplet reports back which version it is running. When the two do not match, you see this warning. The controller keeps running the last configuration it received, so any recent changes are not yet in effect.
There are several possible causes. One we have seen is a change to the network settings on site, which can leave the Droplet's devices out of step with Stormcloud. This is not always the cause, but where it is, re-adding the devices resolves it.
Before you start
Make a note of your controller and device parameters before removing anything, so you can enter the same settings again quickly. A screenshot of each is usually enough.
How to fix it
1. Resend the configuration
Check the Droplet is showing as Online, then click Resend Config in the banner. Wait a minute or two and refresh the page. If the banner clears and stays cleared, you are done.
2. Re-add the controller
If the warning is still showing, delete the controller and add it again using the same settings.
3. Re-add the devices
If the warning returns again, the devices need refreshing. First confirm the Droplet is Online in Stormcloud, and that each device is online in its own manufacturer's app or portal (for example Fronius Solar.web).
Then go to the Devices tab and remove and re-add each device one at a time, confirming each one comes back online before moving on to the next.
Once all devices are re-added and online, add the controller again using the parameters you noted earlier.
Still need help?
If the warning is still returning, submit a support request and our team will investigate further. Please include the site name, the Droplet's Endpoint ID, and a screenshot of the warning.
