Some units have a virtual device in their device list called Droplet Health Stats. It is common for this device to show as offline even when the Droplet itself is online and working normally.
If you see this, there is nothing to fix.
What the Droplet Health Stats device was for
Droplet Health Stats is a legacy virtual device. On older setups it had to be added manually so that the Droplet's own health metrics would appear in the Analytics tab in Stormcloud.
That is no longer the case. Droplet health information is now available by default, whether or not the virtual device is present on the unit.
Why is it showing offline?
Because it is no longer used. Nothing reports data to the Droplet Health Stats device any more, so Stormcloud shows it as offline. This is expected behaviour and does not indicate a problem with your Droplet, your site, or your equipment.
Deleting the device and adding it again will not bring it online.
What you should do
- Do not add it to new sites. It serves no purpose on current setups.
- If it already exists, leave it in place, or feel free to remove device. It is harmless, and removing it is not required.
- Check the Droplet itself instead. To confirm your site is communicating, look at the status of the Droplet, not this virtual device. If the Droplet shows as Online, your site is reporting normally.
Still need help?
If your Droplet itself is showing as offline, that is a separate issue — see Troubleshooting an Offline Droplet PLUS. If you have worked through that article and the issue persists, submit a support request and our team will investigate further.
