If you wish to reduce the amount of data published through 4G, the following options are available. Please note that most of them will require SwitchDin support/assistance to be deployed on your droplet.
Option 1: Block the internet traffic from the inverter through 4G
If your droplet acts as a gateway to provide internet to your inverter, it is recommended to route it through the local LAN of Wifi to avoid extra 4G costs. This can be achieved by configuring the routing table at droplet level. The telemetric data will still use 4G without any consequences on the droplet capacity to control your site.
If a local network solution is not possible, blocking the internet traffic from your inverter is possible. The device will show as offline from the manufacturer's webserver, but will remain controllable and provide data back to the droplet. In Stormcloud, the inverter will show as online.
Option 2: Limit the metrics published over MQTT
At a droplet level, your SwitchDin support team can also assist you to adapt the local configuration and limit the number of metrics being published to our MQTT server over 4G.
