1. EDMI Smart Hub Slave Dial Settings
To ensure the Slave ID is set correctly. For example a slave ID of 1 would require the dial in the top right corner to be zero and the left dial to be set to 1 per picture below:
2. DIP Switch Setting
Below is the DIP Switch Definition from the Smart Hub documentation. Given that daisy chaining via RS485 is currently not supported by the Droplet:
One RS485 connection per meter is required to the Droplet.
DIP Switch 5 and 6 have to be turned on
IMPORTANT: In order to enable metering data aquisition, it is important to turn on the DIP switch #4 “BMS test mode”. This is undocumented in the Smart Hub documentation.
3. RS485 (RJ45) port to use
This is not clearly documented in the Smart Hub documentation but the approach taken at Spring Farm was to use the rightmost RS485 port if the RS232 is on the left per diagram below:
4. Ethernet to Serial Cable Check
The installer must ensure the cable is sound—for example, by checking continuity, particularly for the BLUE and BLUE/WHITE wires - and that it is properly terminated with an RJ45 plug for connection to the RS485 port (RJ45 socket) on the Smart Hub.
Ethernet cable to be terminated using TIA/EIA-568A standard as below:
At the Droplet end, the ethernet cable break-out wires (BLUE and BLUE/WHITE) should typically connect to the A terminal block wire entry holes as below. i.e.
BLUE wire into A (+) wire entry hole
BLUE/WHITE wire into A (-) wire entry hole
