What are the most popular Controllers?
- Generic Controller: A wide range of values working simultaneously that control the connected devices, like battery controls (charge/discharge), site setpoint controls, site export limit controls, DRM controls, Peak shaving controls, Self consumption controls, FCAS frequency override.
- Multi-Battery Self Consumption enables multiple batteries to do self consumption: it targets the grid to always be at 0, i.e. no export, no import. It either discharges into the load or charges from the PV. Also, it distributes the set points equally between multiple batteries so they all charge/discharge at the same grade. Be aware it does not work in conjunction with the peak shaving controller.
- Multi-PV Site Export Limit: It enables multiple PV inverters to be limited so that grid export limit is achieved. It maintains grid export to a threshold by limiting the PV output. This controller can work with the peak shaving controller and requires a meter to be commissioned. A Grid meter is needed to control the site installation.
- Peak Shaving Controller: This controller does import limiting for battery control. Please note it changes its behaviour depending on the remaining battery state of charge. There are 5 modes, those modes are in order of decreasing state of charge of the battery: 1 - self consumption, 2 - limit financial, 3 - limit protection, 4 - charge only, 5 - force charge to protect the battery while it is below the financial import limit. Please note it only controls the battery, it does not matter what the PV is doing.
