The droplet automatically discovers devices on its network. Yet, to communicate and control with any inverter, the inverter settings must be configured correctly.
Ports vary depending on OEM. Droplet mostly communicate with inverters through Modbus TCP/IP or RTU. Visit our website to check setup
a) Open your inverter management interface.
Open an internet browser and enter an IP address found within your OEM system information or enter the host and domain name of the OEM Data Manager directly into the browser's address bar.
b) Go to Modbus settings (Example with a Fronius inverter)
Select TCP (if not using a serial device)
Select/Enter port field ‘502’
Ensure control via Modbus is checked
c) Failsafe
To protect network stability you will need to configure the inverters failsafe mode, this will manage output in the event communication with Droplet is lost. Ensure you limit export of the entire system and set the maximum grid feed-in power to your needs.
d) Controlling Priorities
To ensure the inverter is prioritising controls in the correct manner it is essential to set the correct order in Controlling Priorities:
Set Controlling via Modbus as Priority 1
Set Dynamic power reduction as Priority 2
Set IO control as Priority 3
e) Market Region Settings
Configure the correct region of Australia depending on the Energy Provider.
